SUSTAINABILITY

Green Future

Sustainability, a complex and dynamic issue, serves as a cornerstone of our corporate philosophy. We firmly believe that our commitment to environmental, social, and corporate culture initiatives - both within our operations and throughout our supply chain - can pave the way for a sustainable future. In our view, sustainability is not a one-time project, but a series of small and large actions that require daily consideration, adjustment, and an understanding that the journey towards sustainability never truly ends. Every effort matters!

By producing innovative, technically advanced, and aesthetically pleasing bicycle lighting, we inspire people to choose cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation. For more than fifteen years, our production facility in Gundelfingen has been powered entirely by renewable energy sources. We promote a culture of longevity and repairability in our product design, actively challenging the throwaway society. Plastic packaging has been largely eliminated from our daily operations.

Our objective is to create products that are as eco-friendly and human-friendly as possible, while continuously optimizing our processes. Sustainability is both our motivation and our promise to you and our planet. Together, we can shape a sustainable future!

Green Power & E-Vehicles

Our production facility in Gundelfingen uses only Greenpeace Energy green electricity from wind and hydropower and heats with wind gas. Here, surplus wind power is converted into hydrogen and fed into the natural gas grid as climate-neutral gas. Greenpeace Energy uses a share of the proceeds to invest in the further expansion of renewable energies. In addition, the last car with an internal combustion engine was eliminated at Supernova in August 2019. Our vehicle fleet consists exclusively of electric vehicles. An in-house electric charging station serves employees and customers alike. Most of us cycle to work and are supported by Supernova with leased bikes.

We take care not to use materials that are harmful to the environment. For example, our product range is free of PVC, which is classified as carcinogenic and produces highly toxic dioxins when incinerated. In our day-to-day work, we try to avoid plastic waste. Thanks to our new drinking water treatment system, thousands of plastic bottles are saved every year and whenever you order a Supernova product from us, it arrives via CO2-neutral shipping in environmentally friendly packaging. We work together with DHL and UPS and take care of the CO2 compensation for you.

Products guaranteed to last for years

Standing up for sustainability means designing products of first-class quality. We have been doing this for over 20 years! Our requirements for the quality of mechanical processing and design are demanding - perfection is our benchmark. There is a five-year warranty on all dynamo and e-bike headlights and three years on our M99 series and the Airstream battery headlight. That's at least one year over the legally required warranty! With the highest possible practical relevance in all development phases, Supernova designs high-performance bicycle lighting for the extreme range. Here, the developers also go themselves with prototypes on the race track and at the same time rely on the valuable feedback of some professional riders who appreciate our constant perfection of the products.
